A BEAR CALLED PADDINGTON

The Browns first met Paddington on a railway station – Paddington station, in fact. He had travelled all the way from Darkest Peru with only a jar of marmalade, a suitcase and his hat. The Browns soon find that Paddington is a very unusual bear. Ordinary things – like having a bath, travelling underground or going to the seaside become quite extraordinary, if a bear called Paddington is involved.

HERE COMES THURSDAY

Thursday the Mouse fell from a balloon having just escaped from the Home for Waif-Mice and Stray-Mice. The Pecks adopt him into their family of church mice and they name him Thursday because the day he arrived was a Thursday to remember.

MONSIEUR PAMPLEMOUSSE ALOFT

Pamplemousse is asked to advise on gastronomic treats to be offered to VIP’s flying on a dirigible from France to England. The entente cordiale is at stake but strange events lead Pamplemousse to suspect that all will not go according to plan..

MONSIEUR PAMPLEMOUSSE HITS THE HEADLINES

Monsieur Pamplemousse attends the filming of Claude Chavignol's culinary TV show. The audience's enjoyment stops abruptly when Claude starts choking - he has been poisoned and dies on live TV.

PADDINGTON ABROAD

The Browns are going abroad, and Paddington considers a holiday in France is not to be taken lightly. So he packs a disguise outfit, his magic set and a map of France printed on a tea towel. Paddington is in charge of the ‘EYETINNERY’ and, as Mrs Bird mutters darkly, ‘There’s no knowing where we might end up.’ But he’s planning some very good holiday ‘doings’ indeed for the Browns. And Paddington himself becomes the only bear ever to ride in the famous Tour de France bicycle race – and win a prize!

PADDINGTON AT LARGE

Further adventures of this enterprising but trouble-prone bear. Not only does his toffee-making put him in hospital, but he also steps into an important role in the local Christmas pantomime at the last minute, completely transforming the show.

PADDINGTON AT THE CIRCUS

When the circus comes to town Paddington and the Browns get front row seats. Paddington sees a man dangling from a rope by his ankles and rushes to help. The result is a circus turned upside down and a daring young bear is the star of the show.

PADDINGTON AT WORK AND OTHER STORIES

Paddington has a knack for ‘smelling out things’ and his sharp nose, supported by marmalade sandwiches, leads him into many adventures, whether it’s lending a paw to a famous Russian ballet dancer, or serving baked elastic instead of ‘Baked Alaska’ !

PADDINGTON GOES TO TOWN

Paddington's love of marmalade is as well known as his ability for getting into scrapes. Even such simple tasks as visiting Mr Curry in Hospital, where Paddington is mistaken first for a patient and then for a medical student, seem bound to come to a sticky "marmaladey" conclusion.

PADDINGTON HELPS OUT

Paddington is a very helpful little bear: he tries his paw at do-it-yourself, with disastrous results. He also takes the family washing to the laundrette where he attempts to unravel the mysteries of automatic washing machines.
