Synopsis
Nine-year-old Susie and her sister Gyll live in Watford but, as war breaks out in Europe and the threat of bombing looms, their parents decide to evacuate them to their aunt in Africa. Here they feel abandoned and alone and dream of escaping to England but when they do finally return home they find life has changed.
