Synopsis

In 1854, Gideon is a navvy in the Crimean War whilst Alice waits for him to return home to Cornwall. When Alice's employer dies she loses her home and her work. Taken in by the Sisters of Mercy, she eventually gets the chance to nurse in the Crimea, where she hopes to find Gideon.
